Broad, consistent support for the limited claim being made — guidelines, consensus, or multiple high-quality human studies.
Supported
Useful human evidence exists, but effects may be modest, context-specific, or not universal.

Promising human evidence with material uncertainty or mixed findings.

A hypothesis or mechanism with little direct human outcome evidence — animal, in-vitro, or pilot work.

Systematic review finds inconsistent EEG evidence for binaural-beat brainwave entrainment

Roughly half of the reviewed EEG studies reported evidence consistent with brainwave entrainment during binaural-beat stimulation and half did not; methodological differences (carrier frequency, beat frequency, exposure time, masking) plausibly explain the split.

Evidence: Supported — A controlled human experiment with physiological endpoints, consistent with larger observational literature on light at night — but small and short.

Light exposure during sleep associated with cardiometabolic effects and impaired sleep physiology

One night of sleeping in moderate room light (100 lux) versus dim light (<3 lux) increased nighttime heart rate, decreased heart-rate variability, and increased next-morning insulin resistance.

Evidence: Supported — Controlled-chamber particle-removal data from a federal research program is strong for the engineering claim (DIY cleaners clean air effectively); it does not by itself establish health-outcome benefits in homes.

EPA chamber testing: DIY box-fan air cleaners removed wildfire-smoke particles at rates comparable to commercial purifiers

Box-fan air cleaners built with MERV-13 filters produced clean-air delivery for smoke-sized particles comparable to commercial portable HEPA purifiers, at a fraction of the purchase price; multi-filter (CR box) designs outperformed single-filter designs, and fan-motor temperature testing found no fire-safety concern with filters attached.

Evidence: Emerging — A pooled positive effect exists, but heterogeneity, blinding problems, and protocol dependence keep this promising rather than established.

Meta-analysis finds small-to-moderate effects of binaural beats on anxiety, attention, and pain

Binaural-beat exposure showed a small-to-moderate pooled effect (g ≈ 0.45) across memory, attention, anxiety, and pain-perception outcomes, with longer exposure and beat presentation before/during tasks appearing more effective.

Evidence: Established — A formal evidence synthesis by a major public-health body, consistent with a large observational literature.

WHO guidelines identify environmental noise as a significant public-health risk

Evidence: Supported — Large, long, well-conducted cohort with dose-response — strong observational evidence, but not causal proof.

Frequent sauna bathing associated with lower cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in Finnish men

Compared with one sauna session per week, 4–7 sessions per week were associated with roughly 50% lower risk of fatal cardiovascular events and ~40% lower all-cause mortality over ~20 years of follow-up, with a dose-response pattern for both frequency and session length.
